Outfitting Movistar Team for a full season of WorldTour races is a mammoth undertaking, but one that the #EnduraCustom team relish. Not only do we have the honour of clothing Movistar Team in Abarca Sport’s 40th year of competition, but we also have our first road men’s elite World Champion to tailor for in Alejandro Valverde, as well as a multiplicity of national champions.
Long before the season starts, we pull together a multi-disciplinary crew, which features members of our product development, design and production teams, to make sure the team are kitted out in the best technical apparel in the WorldTour and Women’s WorldTour pelotons.
With 37 riders to fit, our trip to Movistar Team’s traditional pre-season get together in Pamplona last October was a busy one. Key measurements are taken from every rider to ensure that their bespoke kit fits perfectly and riders old and new get a chance to try on every one of the more than 40 different types of kit that they’ll receive throughout the season.
The fit session is also a chance for us to gather even more feedback from the riders. Movistar Team form our elite test bed, we encourage our riders to provide feedback to our Product Development team throughout the season, allowing us to tweak and refine the gear that we provide to them. Unlike some team apparel suppliers, our production facility at the heart of our operation and is located only a matter of metres away from our development team. As a result we can prototype very quickly, minimising the time it takes to get new ideas onto the riders.
The partnership between Endura and Movistar Team is beneficial to those of you who aren’t riding in the WorldTour too. Movistar Team’s riders enjoy the benefits of super-fast skinsuits and tailormade comfort, but with the hundreds of thousands of kilometres worth of feedback, we’re able to call on their experience to help us develop perfect bits of kit for you.
No-where is this feedback loop more apparent than in our flagship Pro SL range. Across the board, the collection’s garments have either trickled down from team kit or been developed from scratch with them in mind. Thanks to our new #BluebirdDay colourway, Movistar Team’s riders can also draw from our off-the-peg range and remain in team colours – the Pro SL PrimaLoft Gilet was one piece that we saw on virtually every rider’s wish list.
With the first consignments from Scotland already in Movistar Team’s cavernous service course in northern Spain, its over to the riders now to get racing. We’ll be following them every pedal stroke of the way.
