Giro dell'Emilia Internazionale Donne
Cervélo Bigla were involved in a double header of Italian races over the weekend, with Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig’s fine run of form continuing with a third place finish at the Giro dell'Emilia Internazionale Donne on Saturday . Despite a late crash, Uttrup Ludwig was brought back to the front to attack on the final climb. Confessing afterwards that she’d launched too early, Cecilie was overhauled in the final few hundred metres to come in nine seconds back from winner Rasa Leleivyte (Aromitalia Vaiano).

Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig:
The girls were so good. Especially Nicole [Hanselmann] and Emma [Norsgaard Jørgensen]. The whole race was full of attacks and they were covering all the moves. They were like an army. It was great because, Sophie [Wright], Clara [Koppenburg] and I could save ourselves for the climb. Clara and I went down in a crash and I came back with Emma leading me out to the climb.

Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli Internazionale Donne
Onto Sunday’s race and a young Dane was once again the team’s best finisher as Emma Norsgaard Jørgensen showed that she is developing into a fast finisher, missing out on a trip to the podium by the narrowest of margins. The first year pro was ably shepherded into the finale by her teammates before Uttrup Ludwig and Sophie Wright led her out into the sprint, where she missed third spot by a matter of millimetres.

Emma Norsgaard Jørgensen:
It always sucks to finish fourth, off the podium, especially as it was really close between me and the rider who finished third, but that’s racing. I feel like I am getting better and better each day so that’s really good, I am definitely moving forward.

Giro dell'Emilia & Grand Prix Bruno Beghelli
After Saturday’s rainy Giro dell'Emilia (where Jasha Sütterlin was Movistar Team’s bestplaced finisher in 14th), the sun shone on the Carlos Barbero as he finished second at the Grand Prix Bruno Beghelli, leading home the bunch sprint after the race was won by a late attack by Bauke Mollema (Trek – Segafredo).
