Rear view mirror – cheerio 2020!

I don’t think we’ll be alone in waving off 2020 with two fingers. Covid-19 has brought overwhelming tragedy and disruption to everyday life in a way that was barely imaginable when reports of a mystery virus started seeping into the media at the turn of the year.

Endura would like to thank everyone working in healthcare and all those keyworkers who have kept life rolling along in so many ways. Hopefully there is now light at the end of the tunnel with the arrival of vaccines and more efficient treatments and we can get back towards normality.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to remember Rab Cairns, a former member of our Production team and an old friend to many of us in Livingston, who sadly lost his life to Covid-19 in the spring.

Normally, we’d sit down at this time of year and take a look back at some of the amazing events that we support and outstanding performances from our world class roster of athletes. Sadly, these have been few and far between with both the event and race seasons stopping before they really got started.

On the racing side, the breakthrough performance of the year for us was Mikayla Parton’s un-flipping-real fifth place at the UCI Downhill World Championships in Leogang. We’ve supported Mikayla with our friends at Nevis Range for the last couple of seasons and we’re hoping we can roar her on in person at the Fort William World Cup in May.

Another rider to toe the start line this year was adventure racer James Hayden, who headed to Morocco in February to tackle the Atlas Mountain Race, an unsupported bikepacking race that covered a mountainous 1145km route from Marrakesh to Agadir. James finished the inaugural AMR in 2nd spot, in a smidge over four days. Look out for more from James and the gravel world next year...

In the event world, we just managed to host our big product launch event at the start of March before things locked down, welcoming special guests including our ambassadors Marcel Kittel, Graeme Obree and Brian Smith to Portavadie for a unique taste of Scotland, including a punishing ride around the Cowal Peninsula. We love this area for road riding and Portavadie makes a great base – hope you can visit sometime soon.

So, that’s a wrap for us for 2020. See you next year – we’ve got lots of great new kit to show you!
